EPA honors DENSO
Date: 2000-12-22

DENSO Manufacturing Michigan, Inc. (DMMI) has been selected as a charter member of the Environmental Protection Agency’s National Environmental Achievement Track. The program recognizes and rewards businesses for exceeding environment protection requirements. “A new era of environmental protection has been launched over the last decade by growing numbers of American businesses,” said EPA administrator Carol Browner. “These businesses recognize that environmental protection can go hand in hand with environmental growth. We are especially appreciative of those companies willing to do more than is required by law to protect public health and insure greater protection of our air, water and land.” Achievement Track companies have strong records in environmental management, with more waste recycling and greater reduction in air and water protection than are legally required. DMMI was one of 225 companies nationally that were recognized at a ceremony sponsored by the EPA on December 13 in Washington, D.C. Kathy O’Shei, project supervisor in the Environmental Engineering department at DMMI, said “DMMI received this award through the efforts of all associates, including those who affect the design of our products and machines, operate machines within compliance, recycle production and office wastes and volunteer to improve the environment at DMMI.” DENSO Manufacturing Michigan, Inc. is a leading automotive supplier of advanced heating and cooling systems. Headquartered in Kariya, Aichi, Japan, DENSO worldwide employs more than 80,000 in 26 countries. Total consolidated sales for the 1999-2000 fiscal year were $17.8 billion.
