Take Our Daughters To Work Day at DENSO
Date: 2001-05-01 DENSO Manufacturing Michigan Inc. (DMMI) welcomed almost 60 girls to its ninth annual Take Our Daughters To Work Day (TODTWD) April 26.
DMMI divided the 59 girls, ages 10-14, into morning and afternoon sessions and placed them into small groups led by female associates. The children toured the plant, visited with their parents and went to several mentoring sessions conducted by DMMI associates.
The mentoring stations provided hands-on experience in key areas of the company, including human resources, corporate services, quality and engineering. At the engineering station, DMMI engineers used picture frames, hot glue guns and a variety of decorations to demonstrate how to create a design on paper and carry it through to an actual project following a tight budget.
DMMI gave each girl a T-shirt with the 2001 TODTWD theme, “Unlimited Potential,” and Associate General Manager of Corporate Services and Human Resources, Karen Cooper-Boyer, addressed them concerning historic American females who broke barriers for women. The company also presented each child with a bag purchased from the Ms. Foundation for Women.
