DENSO Launches New Training Facility
Date: 2003-02-03 BATTLE CREEK--On February 3, 2003, DENSO Manufacturing. Michigan, Inc. will celebrate the grand opening of its new DMMI Skills Training Facility. The facility, located inside the DMMI plant, is one of a kind among manufacturers in the Fort Custer Industrial Park. One of the facility’s key features is the assembly training area, where associates can get hands-on experience practicing basic assembly and inspection techniques. This “Basic Skills Training” component focuses on real-time customer requirements and concerns, so DMMI associates and temporary employees hit the manufacturing floor with improved job knowledge, technical skills and confidence.
The facility also boasts a computer lab where DMMI utilizes customized computer-based training (CBT) on everything from its quality system to its corporate mission. CBT allows DMMI associates to learn at their own pace and frees up subject matter experts so that they can focus on other activities. CBT supports a lean manufacturing operation by maximizing efficient use of “people power.”
The DMMI Skills Training Facility has incorporated safety, quality, productivity, 5S, and many other important DENSO key philosophies in both its design and its training programs. It will be used as a model for all North American Region DENSO affiliate companies.
DENSO, a leading supplier of advanced automotive technology, systems and components for all the world's major car makers, operates in 30 countries with 87,000 associates.
