DMMI Welcomes New President
Date: 2005-06-02 BATTLE CREEK—Akio (Alex) Shikamura, President of DENSO Manufacturing Michigan Inc., will be returning to Japan on June 16, 2005 to assume new responsibilities as Managing Officer, Air Conditioning Division, at DENSO Corporation in Kariya, Aichi, Japan. Upon Mr. Shikamura’s departure from DMMI, Junichi Soh will assume the presidency.
As DMMI president since 2003, Shikamura has overseen DMMI’s $9-million facility expansion, as well as the establishment of a new 120,000-square-foot on-site warehouse. Under his leadership, DMMI has reached new levels of productivity under the Efficient Factory initiative, which emphasizes lean manufacturing principles. During Shikamura’s tenure, DMMI also received its TS 16949 certification, as well as numerous customer awards for quality, cost, delivery and service.
Junichi Soh joined DENSO Corporation in 1972. Prior to his appointment as President of DMMI, he held the position of Executive General Manager of Cooling Systems and Component Product Division of DENSO Corporation in Kariya, Aichi, Japan. Throughout the years, he has held a variety of management positions, including General Manager of Radiator Engineering Department and General Manager of Cooling Systems and Components Quality Assurance Department in Japan. Soh also brings additional overseas experience to DMMI, having served as Coordinator of the Product Engineering Department at DENSO Australia Pty. Ltd. and Technical Director at DENSO Marston, Ltd. in the United Kingdom.
