DMMI Wins EPA Award
Date: 2007-05-15 BATTLE CREEK, Mich.— DENSO Manufacturing Michigan Inc.(DMMI ) was awarded a Performance Track Environmental Performance Award, presented by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
This award recognizes members that have demonstrated exemplary environmental performance during their participation in the Performance Track Program. The award was presented to DMMI President Junichi Soh at a special awards ceremony on May 9 in New Orleans.
“EPA’s Performance Track partners are ready, willing, and able to go well beyond mandated requirements - proving that doing what’s good for the environment is also good for the bottom line,” said EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson.
DMMI President Junichi Soh said, “DMMI is very honored to receive the Environmental Performance Award. We were able to reduce our solid waste generation, increase the use of returnable containers, eliminate the use of hexavalent chrome in our processes, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and reduce water consumption. Of course, this would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of all DMMI associates who are committed to achieving our environmental goals through our philosophy of continuous improvement. These improvements help DMMI as well as the community in which we all live and work as we pursue our mission to be a good corporate citizen.”
Performance Track is a public-private partnership that encourages continuous environmental improvement through environmental management systems, community outreach, and measurable results. Currently, the program has about 450 members. DMMI has been a member of Performance Track since 2001 and was a charter member.
