DMMI Offers Employees a Voluntary Separation Plan
Date: 2009-03-24

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 24, 2009

BATTLE CREEK, Michigan - DENSO Manufacturing Michigan, Inc. (DMMI) today announced to its associates that it is offering a voluntary separation plan to all eligible and interested associates. This voluntary separation plan is in response to the increasingly difficult economic environment and the continuing decline in U.S. automotive production.

"The DENSO Manufacturing Michigan, Inc. Voluntary Separation Plan is designed to provide employees who want to pursue other interests the opportunity to leave the company with a lump sum payment," said Karen Cooper-Boyer, General Manager of Human Resources for DMMI. "This is completely voluntary."

The entire automotive industry has been severely affected by the global economic downturn. Automobile sales declined significantly last year, and are predicted to decline further in 2009.

The voluntary separation plan is just one of several countermeasures DMMI has implemented to help position it for long-term viability and success, including work-sharing (working a modified work schedule); reducing temporary workers and cutting pay for executives, managers and exempt associates.

"We have been taking measured steps to respond to the dramatic change in consumer demand and we are hoping that this voluntary program will help us further adjust to the market," says Cooper-Boyer. "Our first concern has always been and will continue to be maintaining jobs for our associates."
